Yelena Glikman

Yelena Glikman immigrated to the Bay Area from Moscow in 1989 with her husband and two children. She received a BA in engineering at Moscow . From 1985-89, she worked in the engineering group at MHAT, the largest theater in Moscow. She worked in a family club in Moscow with children and adults, coordinating different activities, such as Russian - American Dialogue, Summer camps, etc.

Yelena founded the Berkeley Russian School because of her desire to preserve and further develop the knowledge of the Russian culture by children of Russian-born parents. Her commitment is reflected in the tremendous energy and warmth she brings to the school each day. She is an experienced coordinator and manager who knows how to make a school a warm and pleasant place for both children and teachers. The Berkeley Russian School is a multicultural community and Yelena is a flexible leader who makes the school open and enjoyable for everyone. The fact that the school has existed and expanded over fifteen years of its existence speaks for itself.
