Alexander Kanchik
Art Class - Berkeley
Graduated from the Crimean Academy of Arts in Simferopol, Alexander went to St. Petersburg to get his second Masters degree in Arts. He became a student at the Academy of Theatre and Cinematography and, after 5 successful years of study, launched a career as a scenic artist.
In 1990 Alexander moved to Israel where he lived and worked for a decade before coming to the United States. He has traveled the world in search for inspiration, visiting Paris, Los Angeles, Las Vegas. He took part in more than 20 group exhibits and had solo exhibits in the US and Israel. His artworks can be found in galleries, museums and private collections throughout Europe, USA, Canada, Russia and Japan.
He is known by critics as one of the leading artists of Classic Modernism, who offers a technique that is a unique and refreshing breath of innovation in an often stagnant art world.
Alexander has joined the BRS in 2004 as Art instructor and also offered his help as Scenic artist for the school drama productions that happen twice a year.
